10 years…
Today being the 12th June 2015, marks my 10yr tenure of photographing live music. My first gig shooting was Something With Numbers at the Espy. A friend who knew the band was going and said he could get me a door spot, I had just gotten my first DSLR (Canon 20d) and thought it might be fun to take some photos. So I went, took some photos, had some fun and started to look into how I could get door spots into other shows to take photos of bands I liked. And here we are 10yrs later.
I never actually thought music photography would become a job, I just did it initially because I was hooked trying to capture that one great photo that summed up the show.
Fun fact. I have issued 981 invoices. My first invoice was $100 for some live photos that were used in album artwork. It was never paid.
I did aim to have a book ready with 10 years of work but unfortunately with the other projects I’m working on, I just haven’t had the time. Maybe in another 10!
Also Tone Deaf recently did a quick chat with me about what I do

My god, can’t believe it’s been a decade! Congratulations!
